Between 29 and 30 June, Mario Beltrán, technical expert in sustainable forest management from the CTFC, participated in the final conference of the LIFE Resilformed project in Pantelleria (Italy), focusing on the management of the Mediterranean forest and climate change. During his speech, Beltrán presented the MixForChange project based on the extensive experience in adaptive forest management to the climate change of his work group.
The LIFE MixForChange and LIFE Suber projects are the projects that Beltrán works with and the ones presented at this conference. Both projects have among their objectives the promotion of an adaptive silviculture to climate change.
The LIFE Suber project has been working since 2014 to implement innovative forestry management techniques in cork oaks. This way, it seeks to promote its adaptation to climate change and thus promote its conservation and maintenance of the associated value chain.
For its part, the MixForChange project also looks for this adaptation, but in Mediterranean sub-humid mixed forests in Europe. Also, to promote its conservation without forgetting the maintenance of its productive, environmental and social functions.
